After delivering blockbuster hit Kabir Singh, actor Shahid Kapoor has been on the wish list of many ace filmmakers. As per reports in Pinkvilla, the actor has been roped in to play a titular role in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s forthcoming movie. Titled Karna, this movie is said to be based on a character from our mythology, Mahabharat. The story will explore aspects of Karna, his fierce warrior side as well as his noble and immoral aspect on the screens.

It is said to be backed by Ronnie Screwvala, thus marking his third collaboration with director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. The duo had earlier teamed up for Rang De Basanti and Delhi 6. Also, the movie will be co-written by the director along with Anand Neelakantan. Anand is the author of the Asura, Ajaya & Vanara, few of the best selling mythological books out in the market. Also, the Kabir Singh actor’s fans will have to wait for a good two years to watch Shahid as Karna, as the film is scheduled to release in Diwali 2023.

Currently, the actor is all set to entertain his fans with the release of Jersey, a sports drama where he plays a cricketer onscreen. Also, the fuilm Jersey is a Bollywood remake of a Telugu movie, helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri who also directed the original version. The movie will release on November 5, 2021, co-starring Mrunal Thakur.
